How to Order
HOW TO ORDER
Ordering a piece from me is straightforward. Here's how it works, depending on what you're after.
1. Items available for immediate purchase
Smaller items — salt and pepper shakers, wall mounted music stands, charcuterie boards, and coasters — are almost always in stock and can be purchased directly through the website store. If a piece has a price next to it on its product page, you can buy it right there.
2. Custom orders of existing designs
Most of the larger furniture on the site — beds, dressers, benches, tables, cabinets, nightstands — is built to order. See a piece you like, but need it in cherry instead of walnut? Or 4 inches wider to fit your hallway? Or with three drawers instead of two? That's not a problem — it's how most of my work is built. Contact me with what you have in mind and I'll put together a quote, a lead time, and any design options worth considering. Most custom pieces ship in 6 to 12 weeks depending on the piece.
3. Fully original commissions
If you want something that isn't on the site at all — a piece designed around your space, your needs, and the woods you love — that's the work I enjoy most. Get in touch and tell me what you're picturing. We'll go back and forth on design, wood selection, dimensions, and budget until we have something we're both excited to build.
Shipping and delivery
Shipping is free on all pieces within the continental United States (excludes Alaska and Hawaii). For shipments outside the continental US, contact me for a quote. Within Dane County and the surrounding Madison area, I'm happy to deliver larger pieces personally. All furniture ships fully insured and professionally crated when the size and value call for it.
A side note about finishes, stains and aging
Durable, water and alcohol resistant finishes are used on all of my work (except when expressly indicated - I do sometimes use shellac). With a few exceptions as noted, wood stains are not used. Clear finishes are used on most pieces to enhance the wood’s natural color and grain.
All woods darken with age, some more than others and always more quickly when exposed to sunlight. Cherry, for example, is very light in color when first finished. While stains can darken wood immediately, the beautiful, rich, translucent color associated with aged cherry cannot be matched in any other way. My preference therefore is to let the sun and time do their work. The wait is worth it.
Questions before you commit to anything?
Call or write. No obligation, no pressure — I'd rather answer five questions up front than have anyone order something they aren't sure about.
